It covers 354 square miles with a population of 16,000 people and only one stop light. Gilchrist has over 55 miles of river frontage, including the famous Suwannee and Santa Fe Rivers.

While Gilchrist County is a rural community, we are located close to Gainesville which is home to the University of Florida (the Fighting Gators), Shands Teaching Hospital, North Florida Regional Medical Center, Interstate 75 and numerous shopping malls. This puts us within a short commute of a major metropolitan area.
